Fishing Report – July 4, 2020

Day 3. Went offshore to fish Lumpy Bottom after hearing some promising reports of inshore tuna catches. CONDITIONS: Partly cloudy with building northeast wind 15-20kt with higher gusts. Seas 3 to 5 feet. Caught and released our first white marlin of the season about 5 miles east of the Lumpy in 25 fathoms. Huge pods of Atlantic spotted dolphins in the area gave us a great show “surfing” in our waves. Could not manage a tuna bite. Building seas made us call it a day early. Fishing Report – July 3, 2020

Day 2. Stayed inside 20 miles for some bottom fishing on the local wrecks east of Wachapreague. CONDITIONS: Sunny, 5 kt wind southwest. Seas flat. Found a load of ribbonfish on west side of the 3 Mile Hill. They hammered the white grub Gulp baits. These fish are very aggressive and very fun to catch. (And delicious I might add — get them fried at the Island House). Don’t throw these fish back if you catch one. Found big flounder all +20 inches on the wrecks. Nasty looking but VERY tasty fried. Fished with friends and family for a few days around the July 4th Holiday. Day 1, Norfolk Canyon, southwall, 100 fathom CONDITIONS: Sunny, 10kt southwest wind, east current, Seas 2 foot. Went 1 for 3 on yellowfin. Again, nice size fish– 50lb. Afternoon bite slowed and we finished the day deep dropping for tilefish and seabass. Brennan Thompson’s first ever...


Fishing Report – June 20, 2020

Finally got a weather window to get offshore and found the fish. Spent all day in the 800/800 area of Washington Canyon. CONDITIONS: Mostly cloudy with 10-15kt southeast wind and east current. Seas 2-3 ft. Went 4 for 8 on yellowfin bites — all fish 45+ lb class. Had three one an once and all boated. Had to cut our day a bit short due to some mechanical issues. Good season...
